A: Good morning the function company can I help you?

B: Hi, a friend told me that you can arrange rooms for hire for parties and things like that.

A:
That's right, we have about ten hotels on our list and we hire out function rooms on their behalf. Are you having a party?

B: Yes, it's for my birthday, my twenty first.

A: Okay, first of all can you tell me how many people you're inviting?

B: I'm not sure yet, it depends on the cost.

A:
Okay, well the exchange hotel might be a good choice for you.

A:
They have a room which will seat up to forty five and will take sixty five people standing.

A:
Are you going to have a meal or just a buffet?

B: I think a buffet, it doesn't have to be a sit down meal.

B:
I don't know the exchange hotel, can you tell me a bit more about it?

A:
Well, it was built about a hundred and fifty years ago.

A:
We regularly arrange parties there, they have a room for hire on the fifth floor.

A:
It's not the most central hotel but it's very easy for people to find.

A:
It's very popular for wedding parties so I'll have to check if it's available.

B: Okay, is the room nice? Have you seen it?

A:
I have, it's quite big and very light.

A:
But the best thing is that it has a wonderful view.

A:
On a fine evening you can see for miles.

B: Sounds good, but how much is it?

A:
It's thirty two pounds ahead, that includes the hire of the room and the standard buffet but not drinks.

A:
And you have to have at least thirty five guests.

B: Well, that won't be a problem, we're likely to be more than that.

B:
Can you tell me when it's available?

A: I can check that for you, which dates are you looking at?

B:
Uh, ideally the middle to end of April, weekends.

A:
Let me see. They can do any Saturday in April but not Fridays or Sundays.

B: Okay, but if I want something bigger what would you recommend?

A: There's the Limerick Hotel.

B: How do you spell that? I'm taking notes.

A:
It's L-I-M-E-R-I-C-K.

A:
There's a large room there which seats up to seventy five people or there's room for 125 standing.

B: Oh, I expect we'll be standing. Where is it?

A:
It's in the business district so public transport's good.

A:
It's got a large car park too though.

A:
The room's on the ground floor and it's recently been refurbished.

B: Is there a garden we could use if we're on the ground floor?

A: There's a small one that would be available.

B: Sounds nice, especially if it's a warm evening and the cost.

A:
The buffet is thirty six pounds per person.

A:
Shall I check availability in April for you?

B: Yes please.

A:
You said weekends didn't you?

B: Yes.

A:
No Fridays again.

A:
And it's not free on the first Saturday.

A:
That's the sixth.

A:
But it's free on the thirteenth and thirtieth.

B: Thank you.

To confirm the booking I then need a deposit of thirty five percent.

B:
You pay the other sixty five percent ten days before the party.

A: Okay and when do I have to confirm numbers?

B:
The number of guests needs to be confirmed five days before the party.

B:
And you also have to decide which menu you want then.

A: That sounds okay. I'll ring you on Monday.

A:
Is this your direct line? Um three six eight two zero seven.

B:
I'll be out of the office on Monday but you can call me on my mobile phone on oh double four two nine eight six double one.

A:

B: Thanks.
